The house of René Mancini was established in Paris in 1950. The husband and wife duo were well known as makers of fine and traditional footwear. They created handmade shoes for elite clients like the Duchess of Windsor, Coco Chanel, Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, Princess Grace Kelly, Princess Diana, Mme. Pompidou, Lauren Bacall, Audrey Hepburn, etc.
In this era, they also created footwear for such venerable fashion houses as Pierre Balmain, Jacques Fath, Cristobal Balenciaga, Hubert de Givenchy and Yves Saint Laurent. |
Coveted Himalayan Tanned Skin.Himalayan is a particular varietal species of Crocodile from Papua New Guinea. The breed is considered precious because the combination’s light colors and shade transitions make it a particularly difficult and time-consuming thing to create. Light colors are especially hard to achieve on crocodile, so getting everything perfect takes tremendous skill on the part of the artisan processing the hide. The name is meant to evoke the snow-capped mountains of the Himalayas.

Made-to-Measure.Adherence to a time-honored tradition of artisan abilities has led to a tight knit family of producers. The process begins with selecting raw skins from our tannery and custom dye to the client's requested color. The tanned skins are then paired with the client's pattern of shoe form and handbag design for cutting. Next, the delicate process of mounting, hand sewing and assembly begins, culminating in the finished product personalized for the loyal client.
